The girl (Girl?....hell, she's in her 30s and three kids) I trained last week for two days got back from Detroit yesterday from her formal training. Her paperwork and test scores were very good, and the conference call this morning from her two instructors gave her high accolades on her driving skills. So now it's my turn again....I have to train her on the route she's going to be running. She does her pretrip (checks it out) on her truck, indicates to me she's ready to go. I'm still a little busy with a couple of other drivers, so I tell her to go ahead and pull out to the back lot, and I'll meet her there in a few minutes. I'm listening to some guy bitch about his route, when all of a sudden....WHAM! She had pulled out of her parking space, and taken the front of the truck into a security cage. Radiator punctured, grill destroyed. Baldar just standing there speechless. Two hours of paperwork, and tears are still flowing from her. "Am I fired" she kept asking, and no matter how much I reassured her that she still worked here...she kept crying. I finally had to call her husband to come get her. Hopefully, she'll be in better spirits tomorrow. Fun day today!

Not so good, wrecking the truck before your first every delivery. I feel kinda bad for her but....

When I worked for UPS, they were doing a major expansion at the airport when we started chasing FEDEX for Air service. It was winter time, and the sun hadn't risen yet, and they had dug an eight foot deep trench behind the warehouse where the trucks were kept that night....which no one knew about until the first two trucks that left the building that morning went into them.

Ewww, damn that sucks.

I have to hand it to people who drive for a living. I couldn't do it.

I think I would like it. Either a regular route like mail delivery or cross country. I've always enjoyed driving. There's a certain freedom being on the road and I like the control of being behind the wheel.

I like driving well enough when the weather's good... but I am absolutely terrified when the roads are slick or when visibility is low.

Well, we've come full circle for the week, and the website has not exploded. Thought I'd post about tomorrow today, because tomorrow will be yesterday in a another day, and then it will be too late. I'm taking off tomorrow and fri for a long weekend. wife and i may take a day trip somewhere.....we haven't decided yet.

Oo... long weekends are nice! Enjoy it - whatever you decide to do.

I am looking forward to fall. I'm already enjoying how the highs are no longer in the 90s. We have a serious drought going on here. All the lakes are at their lowest levels and strict watering bans have been issued. But it makes for day after day of sunny, beautiful weather.

I will be working both today and Fri but I don't have a lot to do (and no pressure to do it). I have ordered a manual and I need some complex downloads on my computer that have to wait until my boss is free next week because I can't handle them. I need both in order to move forward but I can spend the time reinforcing what I've been over.

I still don't have my workstations switched so I have my office barracaded with boxes. I have cords running willy nilly around and the last thing I need is for the dog or the kids to trip and knock some of my new equipment to the floor. I have to climb in and out over the boxes.

Oh, I really should have put this in the 'my boring life' thread.

LOL! You may think it's boring, but it's much more exciting than anything I could write about my day.

Speaking of boring I am studying.

I just woke up from a nap. I'm gonna have to stop playing poker so late when I know I'm off the next day.....it throws my whole system off. I still wake up early, but then about two hours later I wanna take a nap.....which I did today, and now I won't be tired till around 2am, which will just make me repeat the cycle. Stupid circadian rhythms!

I miss napping.

Can't you take a quick two hour nap if you're working at home?

Perhaps I should "conjure" you up something that will make you sleepy......

I could....but I usually spend my break time fucking off on the internet, lol.

Plus I think I'd be too stressed to fall asleep thinking about how I'm not going to get enough hours working in and am being paid to do nothing.

Shhhhhhhh....don't tell anybody but I already am concerned that I'm not putting in enough time.

I used to feel guilty too about "putting in time" and "doing more".....until I realized that it didn't matter......because there was always going to be something to do, and no matter how hard you worked, or how fast you did it, there was always going to be something else popping up to take your time.

I wish there was something "popping up" to take my time.

You could always watch one of my videos....

I might have to go check my shelves and see what's available.

My videos should never be put on a "shelf". That would be like putting a cartier diamond ring in with the costume jewelry at JC Penny.
