I've got Nero 7 Ultra Edition on my computer. But I have never used it. Nor have I ever used the DVD burner.

I have literally thousands of pics - I'm scanning every photograph my parents have and then some (newspaper clippings and other family history memorabilia) so emailing isn't an option.

I'll look at Nero and if it's self explanatory maybe I can do it. If not, I might have some more questions.

I'm assuming that you can view the slideshow on the computer as well as a DVD player right? Or do you have to have a DVD thingy on your computer - because I doubt my sister would.

after its on dvd, it can be ripped into mpeg2 at which time it can be transcoded to flash video, which is what youtube converts videos to. which just means its roughly the same quality but a smaller file size and can be loaded to youtube, or I assume myspace video, much faster. or just the mpeg. theres places like yousendit.com where you can uploa larger files for download.

no, mine has a make your own dvd option, but I think I only got that by installing plugins which cost money unless you are resourceful. I've never actually tried it but I don't think standard dvd players will read data dvds.

and basically what I meant is if you can give me the files, I can put them on dvd for you, or if you get them on dvd, I can make you mpeg files. Its taken me a few years to learn what little I know, and every time I've tried to explain it to people, I get that look.

I haven't got the pix scanned yet. I mean, I've done about a thousand which looks like less than a 1/4 of what I have to do. I've made a CD of those already.

Maybe I'll get the slideshow figured out by the time I get the rest scanned. It's really too many pix for one slideshow. I'd like to take the time and sort all the pix into chronological order - which they are NOT already but so many aren't dated. At this point I've had them so long I just want to get them scanned - I can always organized the scanned pix later with some photo album software I have.

Can you put multiple slide shows on 1 DVD? Like if I did manage to sort - by decade or subject or whatever - so that a person could skip and view certain pix without viewing the whole slideshow?

I don't think you can put pictures on a dvd to be viewed on a dvd player without a little difficulty. You can burn them to a dvd as data and view them from a computer that has a dvd drive much like burning them to a cd.

that's entirely possible. It would be about the same as taking the time to upload them all to photobucket. a little quicker actually cuz I can add multiples at once but you gotta add music and stuff too. I do this stuff all day long though.
