Tuesday 11-13-07

Hey... good morning!

While typing in the subject title today, it occurred to me that it's a bit odd that the date of the first day of my new job (11-13-07) is exactly 13 months after the date of the last day of my previous job (10-13-06). I guess some people would cringe at thirteen-ness of it all, but since I like the number 13, I'm going to take it as a good omen. (I know, I know - it doesn't really mean a thing.)

Now, with all these new clothes that I've recently purchased, you'd think it would be a cinch to decide what to wear for my first day.... WRONG! It's driving me crazy because I can't decide. Everything I've purchased is very warm and it's likely to be unseasonable warm again today. Yesterday it was 58. I really don't wanna be all hot and sweaty. Hopefully it won't be quite as warm today, and being right on the lake will make the building stay nice and cool. Did I mention that the owner's office has 3 huge picture windows looking right out onto the lake?

With all the MG talk yesterday, I decided to actually play my vamp last night... and what do you think happened? After I got 2 manhunts done, my internet connection, which has been sporadically crappy for 3 weeks, went completely out. I tried the usual stuff to fix it... reboot the router, reboot the router, reboot the modem and router, reboot the main computer, the modem and the router, and... nothing. I waited awhile and tried it all again, and, of course, it didn't work again.

So I called for tech support and after going around and around with the guy he tells me that our area had been having problems with service, but that it was fixed now and that I can't access it because my router is preventing the modem from reauthenticating the connection and that I should call the support for the router because he couldn't tell me where to put in the code to reauthenticate. After I hung up with him, I found it, put it in and still no connection.

So I called back and got another rep. After more of the going around and around with whether or not I had rebooted, and if my cables were all connected, she let it slip that our area was having a problem. She said I should just keep checking back every hour.

I want to know why these people want you to try all kinds of lame ass shit (reboots, connecting the modem directly into the computer, go to a different computer, etc) when they know they are having problems on their end. Why in hell can't they just say they are having problems and they'll be up again as soon as it's fixed, with a guess as to when that might be? /rant

I have so much to do this week and I can't seem to get my ass in gear.

It's not my job but the dog needs a bath terribly bad. I may have to break down and do that today, too.

I kept getting emails that people were signing my guestbook. But of course you can't see the guestbook unless you pay to upgrade your membership. I figured it was just classmates.com leaving me spam but I got TWO entries yesterday and so....I paid the damn fee.

Out of 13 names I only recognized one, a guy I graduated with but I don't think ever spoke a word to. But for $15 I figured what the hell, might as well reach out so I sent him a short note.

I just hate how they are always such arrogant pricks about it. Anyone who questions them gets the response "do you think we're stupid?!"

Well, yeah, I kinda think they ARE stupid now that you mention it.

So... after missing my WoW play last night I tried to log in today, but it said I needed a patch before I could play. I download that and it took about an hour. Then when I tried to log in it wouldn't work... oh yeah, they are doing maintenance until 11:00 pst, which is 1:00 here. The time I have to be at work. Bastages are all working against me. I just know it.

Hopefully it will all be worked out by the time you get off today.

Gee, I hope she checks in tonight to let us know.

The forecast calls for rain Sun and Mon for GA. If it happens, he can come out and say he's got an in with God, and get all the religious vote. His election commercial........."God voted for me.....so should you....we don't wanna piss HIM off now, do we?"

On a related note, I just saw a news clip about the low levels of reservoir water in a little town called Cumming, GA. Now, words fail me!

When we moved back to Louisville from Paducah back in 1990, our realtor showed us a house on a street called "cumnock". My daughter started crying when we acted like we were going to move there. My son had no clue.

I guess that bammie is well into her cups by now or else she doesn't have internet service again. I hope for her sanity it's the first and not the last.
