Sunday 9-14-08

Well, I hope no one's under water. We've had so much rain. T.o.m. had to take the truck to pick up my daughter from work... and he had to take a convoluted path to get to her.

There are still portions of interstates closed around here due to flooding. We had 11 inches of rain in some areas.

We missed the rain, but we had 75 mph winds here. Half of Louisville has no power. I do, but my son, and my daughter....both are out. I had to go up on the roof last night after the winds died down to repair some shingles that had blown off. I can't imagine what it would be like to go thru what people go thru in a real hurricane.....winds twice as hard, and sustained!

I had the chance to experience one in 1982 when I was living in Houston. It was scary, especially since we were living in a trailer. Fortunately, we had no damage. It wasn't nearly the storm that Ike was though.

I've thought about it a lot. I'm wondering if maybe she doesn't wanna talk to me.
