| I'm done bitching about being sick! I got off my fat ass and walked today. Gotta get started pulling it all together again. Summer is almost over! I have a straight back chair that was my grandmothers that I brought back home from my parents. The wood is in excellent shape, the chair is tight but there is no seat. It had some kind of cane basket weave but I don't care if it is exactly the same. I'd like to find some kind I can do myself. Anyone ever done anything similar? | |

| nope.......not me. i have no idea of how to weave a bottom for a chair. Now, i do know how to weave in and out of traffic, weave a poker spider web to catch an unwary player, or weave the woom if someone fwatuwates.....but never a chair bottom. | |

| She takes care of me pretty well. She saw how stressed I was getting trying to decide, so she just took it from me, and said "don't worry, hon.....I'll take care of it." The woman is a saint, I tell ya.....a SAINT! | |

| I've no doubt that her choice of spending is more advantageous to both of you than yours would have been. Because even if it is something only for her you get brownie points for compliance. | |

| How can you say that? I think custom pin-striping for the boat would be more than advantageous for both of us...... | |

Cool! I have one that was my great-grandparents' which my grandfather re-caned years ago. He did the weaving himself, but I think you can buy caning that is already weaved, in a sheet. I know you can do your own search, but this site has what looks like some good diagrams if you're up for doing the caning yourself. http://www.popularmechanics.com/home_journal/woodworking/1273441.html?page=1 | |

| Neat! But I don't think that's the kind of seat this chair hair. I think it was more like this splint weave (just the bottom - it's a ladder back) But I'm thinking about a fiber rush: | |
