Heard about this from a college kid so it must be cool. I'm trying it and so far I like it. You just put in an artist or song and it makes a radio station for you. I put in Three Days Grace and am getting lots of alternative music I like. And it's deeper cuts not the singles out on the radio.

A friend put in B.B.King and said he got blues music similar to King's streaming.

It's free and you can create a profile and do some of your own programming (kick a song from the play list or not let it play again for a month, etc).

Quote :
The Music Genome ProjectŠ
On January 6, 2000 a group of musicians and music-loving technologists came together with the idea of creating the most comprehensive analysis of music ever.
Together we set out to capture the essence of music at the most fundamental level. We ended up assembling literally hundreds of musical attributes or "genes" into a very large Music Genome. Taken together these genes capture the unique and magical musical identity of a song - everything from melody, harmony and rhythm, to instrumentation, orchestration, arrangement, lyrics, and of course the rich world of singing and vocal harmony. It's not about what a band looks like, or what genre they supposedly belong to, or about who buys their records - it's about what each individual song sounds like.
Since we started back in 2000, we've carefully listened to the songs of tens of thousands of different artists - ranging from popular to obscure - and analyzed the musical qualities of each song one attribute at a time. This work continues each and every day as we endeavor to include all the great new stuff coming out of studios, clubs and garages around the world.
It has been quite an adventure, you could say a little crazy - but now that we've created this extraordinary collection of music analysis, we think we can help be your guide as you explore your favorite parts of the music universe.
We hope you enjoy the journey.

When I tried to tell kid1 about it she cut me off with "yahoo does that, everyone does that". Still....I bet yahoo is trying to sell something.

I wonder what else you'll get that's like Zappa. Captain Beefheart?

It's still free but after a few songs you have to register to continue. I did, it doesn't ask for much info.

It only gave me part of one and then asked me to register. Then I got the rest of the first and that second one, but after that - nothing. No

Pick something other than Zappa. Try Jeff Healey.

I'm starting to hear more artists that are new to me - right now it's Grand Unification Pt 1 by Fightstar and I'm still on Three Days Grace radio. So far I have liked everything.

Good idea, but this is the freakiest Jeff Healey song I've ever heard. Shocked I Wish I Were Twins is New Orleans jazz. Nothing at all like the blues stuff I've heard him do.

For Spock's Beard... first off I got Is This Love. Then I got Livin' Just To Die by Winger. Good stuff so far.

City Boy Radio gave me Honeymooners to start and then Ships in the Night by Be Bop Deluxe.

You should give it a try Z. Anything you don't like you can tell it to never play it again, and the stuff you do like you can give a high rating to.

That should be enough reason right there to go.

It's three. At least that's how many I saw when I was resetting the internet in the basement.

I saw you online and remembered to post this finally. It's been swimming around in my head for days. Yay!

Oh, your hubby.
Thats amazing.

Their first 3 albums were classic, in my book.
These are actual old fashioned records?
I'd try and buy them from you but then I'd have to go find a turntable, lol.

Took me years to find the CDs, and I only found the first 2 (Klaatu and Hope) and a greatest hits.
I never could find #3, Sir Army Suite.
