I'm never going to my in-laws for Christmas ever again. Or possibly ever again period.

Nice to see you, too, girl! We don't have our wii hooked up yet but I played the niece's for the 1st time while we were gone - just tried the tennis and bowling. The tennis was fun! You and I should try to get the online thing going - do a yoga class together or play tennis, lol.

I got a pretty neat present for xmas. When I was 13, my mom and dad bought an old 8mm camera (new at that time), mostly I suspect, for the birth of their first grandchild, and my neice. Anyway, several rolls of film were taken over the years. Eventually, I was the first in the family to buy a video camera, and the 8mm film got forgotten, and sat in a box for several decades. Anyway, my neice asked me about them several years ago. We tried playing them one night, but they had become so brittle over the years, they would break after only a few seconds, and so were relegated back to the box. Last year, she asked me if she could have them, with the intent of somehow getting them restored. I gave them to her, and this year my xmas present was a dvd of the old films that she had sent to a company and had them transferred over. Christmas Eve night, when my wife and kids went down to visit, I was presented the dvd, which I promptly played on their dvd player. My kids loved it, seeing their old man as a kid, swimming, playing basketball, baseball.....everything a parent films these days with a video cam. Seeing their grand-parents as relatively young people. Seeing people they never knew, that have passed away, their relatives. It was one of the best xmas presents I've ever gotten!

That sounds wonderful, baldar, for all of you. Must have been a little like being in a time machine. Ah memories, you can't put a price on them.

So true, and the older I get, the more I realize that. Someday, when I'm long gone, I can envision my great grand kids watching it, and getting a sense of where they came from.

I did that with the films a few years ago...damn, might be over 10 years ago now,....how time flies.
Yea, cause they were transferred to VHS and then I DvD'd em myself a few years ago.
Viewed em when they first came back and haven't since.
Saw segments during the burning process.
I think it's about time to look at those again.

That is very cool. We never had any home movies so I'm a little jealous.

I'm glad she did it. If I could figure out how to do it, I'd put it on youtube. That way everyone could see the first telltale beginnings of my tight muscular thighs and buttocks.

I hope you guys can envision me sitting here at the computer desk laughing my ass off when I post this kinda crap!

I did it once but it was so long ago I can't remember - I'm sure youtube must have walked me thru it. Baldar, do you have a youtube channel?

uhhhh......ummmmmmmm......idunno. Is it on my computer somewhere? WHY DO YOU ASK ME SUCH HARD QUESTIONS? Now my head hurts, and I gotta go downstairs and get a Hershey Bar.

Has anyone checked out the Google street view map? It is so cool. You can actually "ride" down a street and look at the neighborhood. I've been looking for stray dogs, in the hope of rescuing them.

I saw a 20 dollar bill lying on one street. I raced over there as fast as I could.....but I guess somebody else got it cause it was gone. I also saw a sign for Diet Cokes on sale at a local supermarket. When I got there, the sign was down, and the clerk said they weren't on sale. When I got back home, I started thinking about that, and checked it out again on the computer. Yep.....the sign was back up. Raced up there again, same snooty clerk.....no cokes on sale. I was pissed. Told her I would NEVER spend another dollar in that store again, and told her I was reporting the store to the Better Business Bureau for false advertising. She called me all kinds of names. most ending with "nut".

I'm also thinking about.....ummmmm.......you know..... making a bid for a US Senate seat. I found that I am qualified, you know...um....but you know....there's not a ....you know.....vacancy here in ummm....you know....Kentucky....so I may....umm....you know.....go up to Illinois....and you know, try like ummm....you know.....some kind of....you know residency thing where....you know....maybe make a contribution.....like....maybe uhhhh...to a politician.....you know.....

If you ever had to register a youtube account to see something naughty (so of course you have) to verify you were over the age of 18 or 15 or whatever....then you have a youtube 'channel'.

If you don't remember just re-register. Go to 'account' and you'll get a menu of things you can do, one of which is 'upload videos' under the heading of 'my videos'.

Then it looks like you just search for the file on computer with the video and click 'add it'.

Now don't ask me how to get an edited file on your computer. But I think the max time length of videos on youtube is about 10 minutes so the clip will need to be shorter than that.

I looked like a nerd when I was a teenager.....crewcut, button up sweaters, Bass wejuns, adler socks, Hanes pants.....I'm having second.....and third......thoughts. Maybe I'll just post a video of "Leave it to Beaver".

Awww... I bet you were a cutie. Besides, I'm guessing that at the time it wasn't a nerdy look at all. I myself used to wear cat eye glasses - which btw are supposedly cool again - blech.
