My last day of vacation.......*sigh*

For at least another two weeks, right?

Happy Friday!

Nope.....my next one isn't till March. Then next years doesn't kick in till June....which I'll take the first week of....but it's gonna be a long dry spell for a few months.

Damn, March is a long way off.

How's the house renovation going? btw, I like the layout.

They've been working all day. There was light rain for just a little while this morning but the sun's out now. It's not going as fast as I expected actually. Well, the windows went in very fast but they are still working on the siding on the front of the house - barely up to the second floor.

We got another dumpster 1st thing (like before 8 am) - another big one. Though I don't think they've done any more tear off today.

We do have a two story overhang of about 2 ft so that's prolly taken a while.

At least you're doing it at your option. we had to have the same stuff done also....new roof, windows and siding back in '96 because of a hail storm. The insurance co. and I went round and round and round because of that. Not only the house, but three cars also sustained hail damage....it looked like some one had just taken a hammer over all three of them. It wound up costing around 30,000 to the insurance, plus another 7,000 out of pocket.

I still think you might have got the better deal even with the insurance hassle...I wish it was costing us $7,000, lol.

Oh I've got a pretty good idea what's it's costing you....if you're going with the double paned thermal windows, those are probably around 10,000 by itself.

And we need new carpet, to redo the master bath, and we'd like a screened in patio.

lol...they do come in handy, don't they. And tax deductible, too!

Handy, yes - we used one to buy Rob's truck. Speaking of vehicles we just got the title on the mini-van in the mail - all paid off!

Too bad I hit that mailbox and brought the value down about $1000.

I've got it all planned out......when I get diagnosed with a fatal disease, I'm selling everything I have, run up every credit card I can get my hands on to the max, borrow every nickel I can get, turn it all into cash and give it to my kids for safe keeping, and send a nice letter to the IRS with a smilie face on it and a few well-chosen words.

We can't afford houses in this area anymore, lol. New houses run about $800,000 - low end. And we don't want to leave this school system.

We could just barely afford this resale 15 years ago when we moved in but it's going to have been a great investment. Rob can handle most all the improvements it has needed - he just doesn't have much time anymore to do them.

You wouldn't believe how much we've already done. It's a 30 yo house and none of the previous owners had done dick unless it was to fuck something up.

I understand. We were in the same scenario, the only thing, the school system didn't play into our plans. we sent both of ours to catholic schools....the schools they would have had to go to....because of the bussing mandate back in the 70's here in Louisville, would have been just intolerant to me. I'd rather fork out the money to send them where I knew they would be safe, away from undesireable elements, and get a decent education.

Well, Uncle Baldar has to get off this computer for a while and do something. Stock market is closed now, on a nice upbeat, made a couple of nice trades, and the basement is calling once again for attention. I'll see you later.

I have to get ready for High School Musical soon. But not just yet.

Well.. I didn't get to sleep at all today, so I'm really dragging at the moment. I did the walk this morning and stop by the grocery for a couple of things. I had an argument when I got home and then dozed off for about 10 minutes, when the phone rang. I actually got a call back from one of the six resumes I sent out this week. I have an interview next Thursday. It's pretty low-paying and the hours are 3-10:30 M-F... and I still probably won't get hired.
