Sometimes I amaze myself.

I'm going to be taking a vacation by myself. I'm taking a bus to the airport and flying out to visit my cousin in SC for a few days and then driving to Atlanta to meet up with Rose. It may not sound all that exciting, but between all my fears about flying (will I make it to the airport on time? did I pack what I need? is airport security going to be a nightmare? how can I get by without a cigarette for 5 hours when I'm so anxious?), having no concrete plans (omg! nearly every other vacation I've taken, I've had very little say so about the itinerary and pace) and the anticipation of visiting two of my favorite people.

And my procrastination is driving me crazy too. Why haven't I figured out what I can fit in my carry-ons yet? I'm not checking a bag so space will be at a premium. Should I take my laptop or is that a hassle I don't want to deal with? I haven't even written a list of what to take. It's just swirling around in my head.

An-ti-ci-pa-a-tion.....

I leave a week from today.

Progress. I actually unloaded the extra junk out of my laptop bag, which I'm taking for my personal item whether or not I take the computer. And I put my essential liquids in a quart ziplock and they fit. Yay!

The scariest sounding part to me is the bus ride. Are you flying out of O'Hare?

Smart move not checking a bag. I did check mine on the trip to VA/DC and it was not only a hassle at the airport going and coming back but it was costly.

I'm so excited, too!

The bus ride should be okay. They don't stop where I caught it before, but I won't have to change buses because I'll be leaving from the hub. I'll be flying out of O'Hare (because Midway doesn't have any non-stops to Columbia). When I rode the bus up there to meet you, it was very cool. They stopped right outside the door by the check in.

I am quite nervous to be flying. I haven't been on a plane since 1985, and I don't remember enjoying it all that much then.

Oh oh oh buddy.....I can see those blue vodka drinks being quaffed as I type this. The Marietta police better be on high alert for hooliganism. Two wild women like yourselves can cause a lotta trouble!

psssttt....Bam.....don't mention uh....you know who....or say hope or change.....she'll put your ass back on a plane.

LOL! We are going to have fun, so I doubt that we'll be discussing politics.

Just a carry on is the way to go if you can manage it. Have fun!!
