EDIT: Watch the facebook video in post 2 - it's much sharper.
Rob's band did a 4 song set at The Cave's open mic night on August 3, 2009. Youtube only allows 10 min @ a time so it's in two parts. They didn't play until almost midnight, on a Monday night mind you. Rob's the drummer; the lead singer on the 1st and 4th songs and backup singer for the others. I'm sure he'd want me to mention that Van Halen's "Jump" was not his selection for the set. (They didn't do any of their original music, only covers.)
This was my first time to use the video camera and I wasn't aware of the nightshot feature. All I had to work with was Windows movie maker so my only option was to make it brighter so you could see them which rather washed everything out to shades of gray. Plus the quality is diminished by the youtube upload. But you get the idea. It was fun and nearly all the other bands wre better than I was expecting.

I'm going to have to watch this when I'm alone at work on Saturday. Looks like it's gonna be good.

Or not. Rob finally watched video and thinks they sounded horrible.

Nice choice of two great Cars songs that have NOT been overplayed like some easier choices would have been! Plus, I believe there was only one guitarist there, so they were at a disadvantage trying to recreate the two guitar songs, but I thought the one guitar player got the Elliot Easton leads down pretty well without having any rhythm guitar to accompany him. Musically, they were spot on, the vocals didn't thrill me as much, especially on the first song (who knew Ric Ocasek's vocal range was so hard to emulate?) and the harmonies could have been better on Tonight, but the bass player got the Ben Orr vocals a lot better on the Bye Bye Love cover on the second song. Overall, I enjoyed it. I'm a big Cars fan, obviously.

They need a singer; Rob is usually the default even tho he'd rather concentrate on the drums. The keyboard player wanted to sing some this time so he did the middle two songs. Unfortunately something went wrong with the sign up and they didn't play until nearly midnight and the keyboard player had knocked back half a dozen drinks by then, lol.
It was a lark, tho. They never get to practice - they all have demanding careers, families, and one guy is a 7th day adventist so half the weekend is off limits. But for 4 old farts whose dreams of rock stardom got pushed to end of the list by all their responsibilities (hence the "Creeping Reality" name) they do a'ight.

That's true. I guess that's why bands are usually started by young, single people with no other pressing responsibilities or baggage. (..or Puff Daddy_)
