I'm not sure who this movie was made for....I don't think it was kids. The whole family went yesterday - the 17 yo had already seen it with friends and wanted to see it again (with us so you know she really wanted to). The only one who didn't care for it was the 11 yo - not that she disliked it, she was more bored.
I cry at sad things - not BOO HOO sobbing but I get a lump in my throat and tears roll down my cheeks no matter how hard I try to hold them back. My girls, who are never affected this way, make fun of me as if empathy were abnormal. I accuse them of not having hearts.
My point is that my face was wet several times during this movie. And those parts, the moving ones, are why I like the movie. I laughed, too, but the funniest bits are in the trailer.
It's a love story, told sweetly and elegantly, that has ended. Then it's an adventure story. You have to watch the scrapbook pix during the credits to get the last story.
My verdict: touching, sweet, cute.
