Heads up! The pilot comes on tonight. I'm recording it. No hurry to watch it as other shows aren't going to aired until this fall.

I watched it over the protests of mr kill joy. It's a bit over the top, but with quirks. I liked it.

Read about this before it aired but felt no interest in watching it.
That don't mean I don't think it'll be any good though. I'm VERY picky about which shows I commit myself to.
Glee club musicals? Not on my list of interests.

It's still on my dvr unwatched. On the surface 'glee club musical' sounds about as far from my interest as possible yet the previews and the hype grabbed my attention.
That said, I haven't heard anything about it since it aired, maybe not a great sign.

I enjoyed it again. However. The singing was dubbed and I know looping is the norm but the mismatched lip synching was noticable in this one. It didn't take away from the quality of the voices - they weren't manipulated, they really are good singers - but it did lesson the quality of the overall performance.
And the part where the lead girl is singing at the top of her lungs in the hallway and yet no one notices? That was lame to me. The wife part drags, too.
But all that sounds more negative than I mean it to. I still like the show. Jane Lynch is deliciously horrific.

Until this last episode I was growing more discontented with Glee, disappointed in the way over-the-top unlikeable characters and the drift away from good musical numbers so compelling in the pilot episode.
The latest with Kristin Chenoweth as guest star has redeemed the series imho or at least halted the descent of quality.
And it reminded me I need to get on with watching that 1st Pushing Daisies DVD.

I can suspend disbelief about musical numbers happening in hallways to no notice of bystanders, but things like the cute guidance counselor really not having any choice in men besides these two guys and a husband being so clueless that he really can't tell that his wife is wearing a fake pregnancy belly... (even strangers come up to pregnant women and touch their bellies, you telling me a husband is not going to lift up the shirt and feel his supposedly marinating offspring inside? ) this is starting to get shark-jumpingly dumb...

Yes, it was a relief not to have the wife/fake baby story line show up in the last show.
It's a very hit or miss show with me with a lot depending on the musical numbers which in turns depends on how much I like the song choices. I still have problems with how studio produced recordings are dubbed over the supposedly "live" numbers resulting in an obviously mismatched lip synch but add the negative influence of something like The Thong Song, which I'd never heard of and could have gone on forever happily in ignorance of, and it's that much worse.
I did read in EW that the success of the show has broadened access to recording rights. Maybe that will help.
Can a show even jump the shark during the first season?

I think in this case it can, what with the preview teaser being released so long before the show to such early positive buzz and the resulting high expectations. Yeah, the fact that everyone is not only a vocal virtuoso but easily choreographed as well and the lush sound that a few band geeks and a guy in a wheelchair can get puts this more in the kind of unreality that you forgive musicals for having but I can't extend that courtesy to the storylines or characters. (I didn't like the more modern songs either, but I'm old too.)

Thankfully they finally did away with the fake pregnancy storyline. Forget all the storylines, relationships and characters - the music in the finale redeemed the show once again.
I've been replaying Rachel's rendition of "Don't Rain on My Parade" before I delete the recording. Me likey.

I bought my daughter the soundtrack to season1. Apparently the soundtrack for season 2 is out already too.
