| It's disgusting that major corporations don't have to play by the same rules as the little guy, but on the other hand, if it saves jobs for thousands, I think it's probably necessary. | |

| This whole bailout business just cracks me up. I wish this was in vogue during my more serious failures in life. In regards to the market situation what really gets me is the ones who get bailed. Why should some be bailed out and not others? Like Lehman Bros, who have been around since the caveman. Okay, maybe not that long but certainly since the mid 1800's. I'm not to well versed in things of this nature (the economy, the market, politics) but it reeks of bullshit to me. | |

| It's like we are rewarding failure. Those of us playing by the rules, living within our means and paying our bills get to pay the GIANT bill for saving greedy investment bankers selling paper that had no value and take care of people who bought houses they could not afford. | |

| If the millions the market bigwigs paid themselves wasn't enough, the Detroit bigwigs flying to Washington in their private jets... ya know,... that says it all. | |

| The more I read about this the more I think we are damned if we do and we are damned if we don't. More so damned if we don't though.
I guess they will get it, maybe not all they ask, but in any case they better make the changes that will enable them to turn things around. If they don't get it, and turn things around to boot, the ramifications are not good. We have to at least try and steer them through the curve and keep em on the road. Or else they go off the cliff and ALOT of jobs go with em.

That's something I haven't even considered. On one hand I feel like they deserve to go under. This whole situation is fueled by oil and the money that revolves around it. The CEO's are making far too much money and the companies have been avoiding changes that are necessary. Cripes, they shelved the electric car some years ago after the prototype was successful. On top of that car makers overseas put out a better product. But if they do go under it would hurt the economy horribly and fuel the possibility of a full scale depression. I think what congress is doing now is making them sweat, and then they will aid them. The worst scenario is that they aid them and then they don't recover. I don't even want to entertain that one.

| I've had it with the automakers.
The auto union refused to have the workers take a pay cut in 2009. All told they average around 70 bucks an hour. That's a bit much.
They won't allow renegotiation of their contract? Let em rust.
This country's people can be generous and caring and helpful, but we can also bounce back from hard times. So bring it!

| My feelings are, if they can make 70 dollars an hour, feel free to do so.....as long as the business model can support it, and not me, the taxpayer, who makes about half that much. | |
